At BLG LOGISTICS, we turn problems into potential. That’s why we’re tackling the labor shortage in our industry with a view to the long-term, with initiatives in Morocco and dedicated programs for refugees from Ukraine, for example.
BLG LOGISTICS is all about fostering talent and promoting opportunities: “Fit for Logistics” is a project that offers those fleeing Ukraine new career prospects in the logistics industry. This includes coaching, courses and practical job speed dating events, in partnership with the Bremen Chamber of Commerce and others. BLG LOGISTICS advocates for integration into the labor market and, since 2024, has also been attracting new employees of its own. German Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Hubertus Heil, got a glimpse of this in 2024 as part of his “Mission Fachkraft” (Mission Skilled Labor).

Our program for those fleeing Ukraine is something we care deeply about. It is a project that is helping people get into work and build a future for themselves.
Another project is our partnership with a German school for adults in Morocco, where BLG LOGISTICS is also recruiting skilled workers who are in high demand. Workers such as truck drivers, some of whom have years of experience working on Europe’s highways but have had little to no opportunities on the German job market up to this point due to bureaucratic hurdles.
Both projects have already found new colleagues great jobs at BLG LOGISTICS – our own small contribution to combating the shortage of skilled labor, enriching our company enormously, and providing every newcomer with a wonderful opportunity.
Shortage of skilled labor worsening
According to the most recent surveys, 86% of German companies are now struggling to fill vacancies. The shortage of skilled labor has further intensified across the board – not just in logistics. In addition to the traditional logistics careers, there are also shortages of qualified staff in key future areas, such as IT.
