Our commitment to a sustainable future

For us, sustainability means more than making green gestures. We aim to balance economic performance, social commitment and responsibility for the environment. By taking all these aspects into account, we gain a holistic understanding of the opportunities, interdependencies and challenges we face. It is our mission to live this understanding across all areas and levels of the company.

As the pie chart shows, our commitment addresses the three aspects ECOLOGICAL, SOCIAL and ECONOMIC. In the allocated areas of activity, we define in concrete terms where and how we influence processes and actively drive change and progress.

We are also guided here by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) resolved by the United Nations in 2015. The agenda comprises 17 goals to be reached by 2030. They are designed to make global development sustainable and to secure a future for coming generations in all the countries of the world – whether rich or poor. With our activities, we want to contribute to this sustainable development. We focus on selected goals which are particularly connected to our business.

Overview of the areas of activity and goals of our sustainability strategy

Climate protection

We will be climate neutral by 2030. This involves cutting our CO2 emissions by 30% within the company and 15% externally.

Occupational safety and health management

We take responsibility for providing a safe working environment with a focus on accident prevention. Prevention also means we support our employees in staying healthy.

Training and education

Our training programs take account not only of qualifications but also of personal background and life situation. We offer our employees further development opportunities throughout their careers.

Diversity and equal opportunities

We employ people from more than 60 nations and respect their diversity. We are particularly committed to promoting women in management positions.

Fair working conditions and human rights

Our employees are crucial to our success. We offer them safe, attractive workplaces with fair pay, and are also mindful of the working conditions of the people in our supply chain.

Social commitment

Contributing to the welfare of the community is part of our responsibility. That is why we support initiatives and projects locally and around the world.

Energy management

We are continuously working to increase our energy efficiency. We are also looking to generate more of our own electricity from renewable sources.

Conserving resources / waste management

We take responsibility for the environmentally compatible use of resources and aim to reduce our waste volume by avoiding, reducing, recycling and reusing waste.
